Processed Food Companies
The processed food industry has learned just how much money can be made selling sugar and high fructose corn syrup in various disguises. Sugar is addictive. When we eat it, we get a near immediate ‘high’, and we want more. And the more we get, the more we want. Unchecked, we end up obese and diabetic. With 30% of us currently obese (BMI between 25 and 29.9), and another 30% of us morbidly obese (BMI > 30), we’re already providing the processed food industry with the lucrative profits to allow them to accelerate their advertising and public relations in an effort to distract us from the fact that we’re slowly committing suicide by snack. With an otherwise balanced and healthy diet, our metabolism can handle the occasional snack cake, candy bar, soda, or frozen pizza. As long as it’s in moderation. But when it becomes a routine part of our daily diet, we’re on a sure path to shortening our lives and forfeiting what quality of life we have in the meantime.
