How to define and pursue my own self-interest when it comes to my wellness and sick care.
Hopefully by now you have some appreciation for the motives, self-interests, and behaviors of all of the other players on your health playing field. There are places your interests align, and many more places where they don’t. Understanding that the other players can usually be expected to pursue their own self-interests over yours when they’re in conflict is the necessary first step to becoming an empowered decision maker and being equipped to defend your own best interests.
As you navigate through these events in your own life, remember that when it comes to your health and welfare, no person or institution, no matter how benevolent, has as much to gain or loose as you do. Play the New Game by your rules, instead of the Old Game by other’s rules. Apply a rational Framework to your consumption decisions. Resolve to own your decisions and their outcomes, seek the best information possible to inform your decisions, and stand up for what’s best for you.
Remember: We coach, support, educate, and empower. We illuminate options you may not have known you had. But we don't decide what's right for you in your unique circumstances; only you can do that. And we don't provide medical, financial, or legal advice; nor do we replace the valuable counsel of those who do.
